Hi my friends 👋

Daryl’s story hits like a gut punch, not just because it’s raw but because it’s one so many entrepreneurs quietly live through.

In his mid-twenties, he’d already built a solid crop consulting business after splitting from his father’s farm.

But he wanted more.

More return per acre, more efficiency, more upside.

So he went big and borrowed heavily to launch a seasonal dairy operation he was convinced could outperform traditional row crops.

Instead of giving up, he pivoted fast. Cut staff. Centralized operations. Focused on what was working.

What stayed with me was his take on sunk costs: “Cows lost it. I didn’t need to make it back with cows.”

That’s the difference between grit and wisdom, knowing when to let go, knowing when to pivot, and most importantly, knowing what actually matters in life.
